Wife 2 on 7/15/2023 The route description for Wife 2 reads, "Work down the crack on the west side of the butte," but I believe it should read "Work down the crack on the EAST side of the butte" Overall, we enjoyed this canyon A couple of the downclimbs were a little spicy for the less experienced members of the group Webbing at the anchors was in acceptable condition
Completed with a group of 3 on April 1 in 3h45m, first canyon for both of them and we spent a lot of time taking photos! There’s a pool at the bottom of the first mandatory rappel, with another anchor set up on the right You can avoid the pool by using that other anchor, but it’s a tough start for beginners in a crack that flares inwardWater at the end of the rap below the arch, avoidable for most your rope would get wet Ankle deep pool unavoidable after the butt slide down the slick rock just after that Potholes &...
As of 4/15/18 the water is shin deep at most, we took wetsuits and never used them The majority can be avoided with some stemming, but you will get your feet wet in at least one long hallway Agreed the that exit crack is low class five, not 4th class hiking Its an easy climb, but you will want a belay for less experienced climbers I did it with a belay for some mental insurance and was able to climb it easily and quickly Send the strongest climber up first, we anchored the belay from a large carin anchor at the...
By far the best canyon Me and My dad have ever done With little to no gear, this is an experience you will rarely find in Utah canyons the beginning of the canyon warns you of its hidden beauty and tempts you to go on As you accept this temptation, it takes you further and further down to the earth you seem to lose track of time traveling through an endless, dark channel that is tight enough to get your head stuck as you keep moving through these tight, water carved walls, it suddenly opens you up into these amazin...
If memory serves, we did the side crack I don't remember anything further down canyon
Important Note: The Scenic Drive, used to access the upper trailhead, will be closed from April 29, 2024 through fall of 2024 See the park page for details: https://wwwnpsgov/care/planyourvisit/scenic-drive-rehabilitation-projecthtm You can still do Burro, but will need to access it from the bottom trailhead Burro Wash is a great technical canyon in Capitol Reef The approach is lengthy, requiring either a long car shuttle or a bit of a grunt up the reef This description takes the grunt up the reef approach and req...
Fantastic and quick canyon I'd recommend climbing around to the right once you get to the semi-keeper and sliding down the crack its a little bit exposed for 1 move right before you get into the slot
If there is one adventurous hike to do in the Cederberg Wilderness Area, this is it! Very popular, and for good reason, this is a hike with an adventurous feel and is a lot of fun Many people just do the Wolfberg Cracks I would recommend adding the additional miles to see Wolfberg Arch as well Once up the cracks, the hiking along the top to the arch is easy and very stunning This is an amazing hike that is do-able most any time The steep part of the hike is in the shade much of the day, making it approachable even...
Does anyone know if there is an exit crack between the first chute and the corkscrew
